Good People of vitruta: Dilara Güngor

Dilara Güngör is the newest member of the Good People of vitruta, and our first member from Istanbul’s Asian side!

In the excitement of welcoming our first tattoo artist to our wonderful community, we met with her at her studio in Kadıköy. We explored the streets of Kadıköy, chatted in her studio, and ended up with an enjoyable photoshoot and interview. Enjoy reading!

Welcome, Dilara. Of course, we at the vitruta family already know you well. In fact, as the face of a few of our brands, some of our community does too! Today, we want to let everyone get to know you a bit better with a few questions. What are some of the best parts of being a tattoo artist?

For me, the best part of being a tattoo artist is constantly living in a state of creativity. By nature, this job requires me to look at things from different perspectives, expand my horizons, connect with people, and ultimately leave a mark, which are all the most beautiful aspects.

How did this journey begin?

I’ve always had an incredible interest in tattoos. I felt a strong attraction to them, as well as to tattoo artists and people who are passionate about getting tattoos. After getting my first tattoo, I began to feel an even stronger connection with tattooing, and I decided to turn my interest into a career.

What inspires you most in your drawings?

Definitely people’s stories! For me, there’s no greater source of inspiration than that. The journeys people go through, the things they hold dear enough to want to mark on their bodies—all of this is my biggest inspiration. And, of course, combining those inspiring stories with my own aesthetic is the best part for me.

What kinds of drawings do you most enjoy turning into tattoos?

I really enjoy creating custom designs and mostly black, line-based tattoos.

What have you been reading, listening to, or watching lately? Care to share?

The last movie I watched was Fresh (2022), a psychological thriller by Mimi Cave. Also, I’m currently re-watching one of my favorite series, Archer.

We often see you featured with vitruta’s brands, sometimes even as the face of our shoots! How do you like to dress on a daily basis?

My style definitely reflects my work. I mostly stick to black and white, which is probably my most consistent style trait in daily wear. :)

Finally, can you tell us your top three favorite brands at vitruta?

At the top of my list is definitely Chimi! I absolutely love all their designs. Adidas Originals holds a special place too, especially when it comes to sneakers. Recently, I’ve also been really drawn to the designs from Vatka Co.
