Description
"Casa Dalí" presents Salvador Dalí's home on the coast of Spain's Costa Brava, through photographs by Coco Capitán, offering a rare insight into the artist's surreal home and workshop. The house, purchased by Dalí in the early 1930s, is the birthplace of some of the artist's most famous paintings, such as The Persistence of Memory.
An exclusive introduction by architect Oscar Tusquets Blanca chronicles his 15-year friendship with Dalí, while exclusive new photographs by Coco Capitán capture the artist's home in the golden light that draws him to the Mediterranean village of Portlligat; where he "claimed that the Spaniards were the first to see the sunrise." Coco's photographs focus on the grandeur of the artist's home as a place of active creation, of both life and art; It includes images of the worn-out furnishings of Dalí's studio, his famous collection of imitations, and the distinctive white exterior of Cadaqués Modern Architecture, the iconic sofa modeled after Mae West's mouth.
An original poem adorns the front and back covers, emblematic of an insightful approach that rejects a single medium, written by Coco as she photographed the house.
